This Trend Is Spot On For Spring

Polka dots can often skew too juvenile or too old-fashioned. But with the right cut and style, a polka dot print can look more couture than childish. The key to keeping your outfit looking crisp and clean is structured pieces. And if you’re feeling intimidated, try the less dramatic (but equally playful) micro dot.  There is no other way around it, the polka dot trend is here and I’m showing you my favourite ways to rock it.

Maxi Dress
This maxi-style dress gets a modern makeover by combining polka dots of different sizes and positioning them to create a dynamic, hourglass silhouette. The asymmetrical lines of the dress also keep the look sophisticated.

Suit
A structured suit is always a chic option, and this polka dot suit is no different. You can also style the pieces individually! Think boyfriend jeans and your favourite tee. The colour palate – navy and lilac – is less traditional as well, keeping the look fresh and modern.

Pants
These burnt orange and bright pink pants are colour clashing it’s best. I’ve paired them with a striped top which pulls in the rust colour to keep it cohesive. If you love the pants but find the look too fashion forward, then rock the pants and keep the rest of the outfit neutral – like a tried and true jean jacket and white t-shirt.

Jumpsuit
Yes, polka dots can be sexy. This jumpsuit boasts a wide pleated leg, which almost gives the illusion of a maxi dress, and a sexy cutout for a hint of skin.
