3 Ultra-Modern Colour Blocking Combos

It’s time to dust off the ol’ colour wheel!  If there is any trend that truly makes a statement it’s colour blocking.  Colour blocking is essentially the use of two (or more) different colours in one outfit.  You’re going to want to opt for solid colours overall, avoiding colourful prints.  When building your outfit you want to make sure that colours can stand out on their own, but also compliment each other.  If it’s your first time colour blocking, stick to two bright colours or try a monochromatic outfit with bold pops of colours in the accessories.

Burgundy + Mustard
These beautiful rich tones are not only perfect for Fall but you might already have items of these colours in your wardrobe and just haven’t tried them together yet. Keep in mind you want one colour to become more dominant.  In this case the burgundy acts like a neutral, letting the mustard accents shine.

Dark Green + Citron

If you think about a colour wheel, these two colours actually sit next to each other and that’s why this combination is going to work so well.

Red + Lavender

Red never goes out of style!  It’s works for every season as well as transitional dressing.  To make sure the purple blouse wasn’t competing, I opted for a light pastel shade.  The sheerness of the shirt makes the red stand out even more.  You’re always looking for one colour to be louder than the other.
