These Sweaters Will Have You Wishing For Cold Weather

We’re all guilty of throwing on an old sweater and jeans when chilly temperatures make the simple act of getting out of bed seem like an insurmountable struggle.  And with summer months away, a steady stream of sweater weather can leave you feeling sartorially uninspired.  Luckily there are 2 easy ways to get out of your style rut.

  1.  Don’t buy the same sweater you already have over and over.  No matter how good the sale.  Invest in a sweater with distinction, be it a pop of colour, stylish sleeve or embellishment.
  2. Trade out your worn out jeans for a new and different silhouette.

Sweater + Skirt

This look channels serious sweater dress vibes but with a more elevated aesthetic.  Update your traditional (and probably pilling) cotton pullover with my purchasing it in a different texture like silk.  This sweater from Zara is in a familiar neutral but the balloon sleeve adds instant glam.

Texture + Tuck

The cure for an overly slouchy sweater?  The partial tuck!  (See here for tips).  Texture on the cuff adds instant charm while a pair of waxed denim pants gives the illusion of leather without the cost.

Striped + Separates

Purchasing matching striped separates allows you to wear items together, or mix and match with the rest of your wardrobe.  You can keep the sparkle going post-festive season when items come in colours not traditionally associated with the holidays (think merlot instead of red).  Stripes are a neutral print, so feel free to throw in a leopard print skirt or polka dot top as long as you keep it in the colour palette.  If your fashion resolution was to think outside the box a printed tight would look stunning.

Embellishments + More Embellishments

This fringe sweater from Ted Baker is a little bit country in the best way.  Since the fabulous fringe detailing goes all the way down the sleeve I kept this outfit monochromatic for a look that’s both simple and chic.
